Former Premier League star close to Sheffield Wednesday move

Lua Lua League One club Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign former Newcastle United and Portsmouth forward Lomana Lua Lua.

The Congolese international is looking for a new club since his release from Cypriot club Omonia this summer and is interested in a move to the Owls as he has worked with their chairman Milan Mandaric previously during their time at Pompey.

The 30-year-old enjoyed 7 years in the Premier League between 2000 and 2007 scoring 41 league goals throughout that period. Since then he has spent two spells with Greek giants Olympiakos and Qatar club Al-Arabi.

Manager Gary Megson told the Sheffield Star: “We’re just having talks with him to see if we can come to an agreement. That’s as far as it’s gone.

“Milan knows him from his time at Portsmouth. We’re seeing if we can agree something that suits both parties but that hasn’t happened yet.”
