Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman has claimed that the current Anfield side are happy playing under Kenny Dalglish, and that the atmosphere has changed since his arrival back at the club.
Talking to the official Liverpool website McManaman said.
“Players love playing for him and he commands respect. He was a great player himself so he’s been there and done it. He knows what works and what doesn’t work.”
McManaman signed his first professional contract under Dalglish and is confident that under the Scot’s management, the club can revive some of the form that saw them become a giant of the sport in the 70s and 80s.
“Kenny has brought back the old Liverpool values which were so admired. Everything is done behind closed doors and what goes on in the dressing room stays in there.”
Liverpool have shown depth in their youth system of late, but McManaman also claims they need to bring in new signings if they are to return to greatness, and that “with another three or four new faces Liverpool should certainly be challenging for the top four.”
