Former Red Devil speaks up for David Moyes

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Tim Howard believes that David Moyes was the fall guy at Manchester United and that he inherited a very week squad of players when he arrived at Old Trafford.

Following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Moyes became the next manager of the Premier League giants and was touted to carry on the mantle for Fergie. However, things did not go according to plan for the former Everton manager and he was later sacked as the club finished seventh in the league, their worst ever finish to a Premier League season.

And Tim Howard, who played under Moyes at Everton, says that Moyes had nothing to do with the poor displays that United put on so consistently last season.

“That had nothing to do with David Moyes. They say it did… They were weak. Simple as that. I think they were a weak team and they needed to rebuild.”

And the American also added that the team was completely reliant on Robin van Persie before once again stating that all that happened last season was not entirely the Scotsman’s fault.

Talking to reporters for the launch of his new autobiography, Howard revealed that he has always stayed in touch with Moyes and is sure that he will return to Premier League management in the future and will be a huge success again.
