Former Liverpool defender Alan Hansen has praised the options that the current side have especially where attributes are concerned claiming the side can no longer be described as predictable.
Liverpool FC have made some interesting signings over the last 12 months and Hansen believes it is their ability to mix things up at the front that can cause opponents problems.
“With Andy Carroll scoring, Dirk Kuyt playing well and Craig Bellamy doing what he does best when he came on, we have plenty of options because each player has totally different attributes, Liverpool definitely can’t be accused of being predictable in terms of what team might be selected. We’ve got height, pace and trickery. As a defender that makes you nervous.”
Hansen claims that it is these types of options that the side have been missing over the past five years adding that finally the Anfield side look like a squad and not just a group of eleven individuals.
“Options is what we have been missing for a long, long time. Now, Liverpool has a squad rather than a team. Steven Gerrard and Bellamy had a real impact when Kenny made the double substitution and that’s what big time football is all about: replacing quality with quality.”
Liverpool will next face Manchester United after the international break in which should be a good test of their options against a United side that have leaked goals. Whilst Nemanja Vidic could be making his return it is believed that Steve Gerrard could be given a starting role.
