Reports from around the UK that four Premiership clubs are looking to contend with each other for the signature of Charles N’Zogbia with Wigan Athletic looking to tie him down to a new long term deal.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool FC are the other three and have been very impressed with his performances this season and will seek to make an offer for the 24 year old winger this summer.
Wigan managed to remain a Premiership side by the skin of their teeth this season and although rumours suggest Liverpool are favourites, reports from London claim the Frenchman would be highly motivated to join a side in next seasons Champions League competition.
Arsenal have always been a club well known for their French connections since Arsene Wenger’s arrival in 1996 and the Wigan man is at that age which would suit the Emirate’s transfer policy.
Liverpool are now interested in N’Zogbia after realising that current wing target Ashley Young may yet remain at Aston Villa although the Merseyside club will not be able to bring any European promises to the negotiating table.
That leaves Chelsea as the final club who could be willing to snap the former Newcastle United winger up who are looking for freshness in attack with their current forward line all above the 30 year old mark.
Values are sketchy although most seem to be quoted around the £10m mark which is likely to rise should Wigan’s Roberto Martinez be given no choice but to sell. With three of the Premiership’s biggest teams interested an increase in value is likely and after the successful season N’Zogbia has had, many believe he could fetch up to £20m for the Latics.
