Manchester City look to have emerged as Real Madrid’s closest rivals for the signature of Lille winger Eden Hazard with Patrick Vieira making numerous personal visits to keep tabs on the 20 year old.
Hazard has been the subject of huge interest over the last 18 months and it is believed that Arsenal were closest during last summer’s transfer window, only for Lille to decline an offer after they had sold Gervinho to the Emirates side already.
Chelsea are believed to be monitoring Hazard’s situation very closely also which makes Manchester City the fourth side to make their feelings towards the player very clear. With Real Madrid highly interested in the Belgian international and City following suit, a move next summer would be very likely given that Hazard wanted to remain at the Ligue 1 side for a further season before moving on.
As with all players, with Real Madrid and City now interested the price of the youngster is now likely to rise and could lead to a situation no dissimilar to that of Alexis Sanchez during last summer who eventually agreed to move to Barcelona.
Whether the player himself wishes to try his luck in London remains to be seen but should any transfer bids from the four sides ensue then it would be much more likely that either Manchester City or Real Madrid would come out on top.
