Francis Coquelin gives Arsenal something they have missed
Former Manchester City midfielder turned BBC expert Trevor Sinclair has hailed Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin’s performance against his old club as the Frenchman starred in the Gunners’ 2-0 at the Etihad,
Following a number of damaging away defeats, not least the 6-3 thrashing at the hands of Man City last season, Arsenal finally produced a mature performance to claim a win on the road against one of their rivals.
Central to that win was Coquelin, who delivered a top level performance and carried his tactical instructions relentlessly as David Silva’s influence was minimized. Their gaffer Arsene Wenger praises Francis Coquelin after impressing in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Man City.
The Arsenal team seemed focused on allowing no passes through the lines to the Spaniard as Manuel Pellegrini’s men tried to shift the rearguard which confronted them.
“It was impressive to see from someone who is only 23 and has made only a handful of starts at the highest level.” Said Trevor
Recently recalled from his loan spell at Charlton, Coquelin has presently amazed the Arsenal fans and his boss Arsene Wenger.
As the Arsenal boss reportedly seeking a new holding midfielder this month, according to the reports, Coquelin’s performances will certainly give his manager food for thought.
