Despite avid interest from Sven Goran Eriksson’s ambitious Leicester City, Fulham look to be the favourites to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.
Maynard, 24, has a good scoring record at Bristol with 37 goals in 98 games and would be a welcome addition to the striking department at Craven Cottage which is looking slightly depleted at the moment with only 3 forwards in the first team.
Maynard won’t come cheap however. Bristol manager Keith Millen wants at least £5m, which is slightly expensive for a Championship player who was injured for the majority of last season.
Rumours suggest Maynard is very keen on a move to the Premier League and this could be a contributing factor in whether Millen will sell Bristol’s record signing.
The decision for Maynard is whether he will join Sven’s Leicester revolution and get plenty of games at a level where he has proved he can score, or make his dream move to Fulham but risk being left on the bench.
