With Pavel Pogrebnyak showing what benefits there are from delving into the Bundesliga, Fulham will once again look to the German top flight for recruitment this summer and are reviving interest in Mohammed Abdellaoue.
The Hannover 96 striker was being linked with a move to the West London outfit in January along with several other forwards but Fulham ultimately opted to sign Pogrebnyak on a short-term deal.
And it’s upon Russian’s shoulders that the decision will eventually lie as to whether or not Martin Jol’s side go in for Abdellaoue.
Pogrebnyak has been in quite prolific form since arriving at Craven Cottage, aptly earning his nickname of ‘Death From Above’ but this undoubtedly works in two ways for the Premier League outfit.
Fulham will be happy to see that their signing is doing so well in the English top flight but considering that he will be available on a free transfer at the end of this season, interest in signing the former Stuttgart forward will surely be high.
Pogrebnyak may have professed his want to remain a Cottager but until the contract extension is signed, Abdellaoue will stay as an alternative signature.
The Norwegian international has scored 16 goals in 36 appearances for Hannover this campaign, recording six assists in the process.
The 26 year-old has also made 19 appearances for the Norwegain national side, scoring five goals for ‘The Drillos’.
Jol recently admitted that the club may have to let some of their bigger stars such as Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey leave should any approaches be strong enough.
As a result, fans of the club may still see Pogrebnyak and Abdellaoue – currently valued at £9m – as a part of the same line-up.
