Fulham have completed the signing of Croatia striker Mladen Petric on a free transfer following his release from German club Hamburg.
The 31-year-old played under Cottagers boss Martin Jol at the Imtech Arena and the pair will be reunited in on the Thames after he signed a one-year deal at Craven Cottage.
Petric has been a free agent since his Hamburg contract expired earlier this month and opted for a move to the Premier League despite interest from Spanish sides Malaga, Deportivo and Real Sociedad.
After finalising the deal and passing a medical on Thursday the Croatian told the clubs official website of his delight at joining the West London club.
“I like the Premier League and it has always been one of my wishes to come here,” he said. |I played with Hamburg against the club two years ago in the Europa League.
“It was very nice to play at Craven Cottage with a fantastic crowd and I have enjoyed a good relationship with every member of the club I have met since.
“I’m very happy to be part of what is happening at Fulham. The club is doing very well and that was why I decided to come here.
“I know the manager well and I know that he is always looking to strengthen his attacking options – and I hope that we can do even better next season.”
Petric scored 38 goals in 98 games in four years at Hamburg after joining for Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and has also starred for Swiss clubs Basel and Grasshopper.
And despite being a regular for his country, scoring 12 goals in 44 appearances, he wasn’t selected for Croatia boss Slaven Bilic’s squad for Euro 2012.
Jol is also reportedly targeting Swansea striker Scott Sinclair after losing Andy Johnson to QPR on a free transfer and opting not to sign Pavel Pogrebnyak on a permanent deal with the striker signing for Reading.
