Gareth Bale claims Tottenham Hotspur can still come through Champions League tie

Totteham Hotspur’s player of the season Gareth Bale has suggested that the recent 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League does not necessarily mean the White Hart Lane team are out of the competition.

Spurs were handed a nightmare start on Tuesday evening when Peter Crouch was sent off for a second yellow after five minutes.

Bale however, is confident that the tide can be turned although he agrees it will be difficult.

“We have to play at our best, stop their best players and score goals at White Hart Lane, it’s going to be a difficult task, everyone knows that but I still think it’s possible.”

The 21 year old added.

“We are not going to sit back and take another beating from them in the second leg. Hopefully we will win and hopefully that win will be enough. Anything can happen. We will be ready for them.”

Tottenham will need to score at least four times to take the tie to extra time and possibly penalties but will need to avoid any defensive mishaps, an away goal for Real Madrid will mean Spurs having to find the net at least six times.
