German giants in pole to land Arsenal target

Marco Reus would prefer to remain in Germany should he leave his current clubBundesliga giants Bayern Munich have emerged as favourites to land rumoured Arsenal Marco Reus who currently plays for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The young midfielder has been at the club since 2009 and picked up 74 league appearances since his arrival as well as knocking in an impressive 21 goals in that time.

The 22 year old Germany international is reported to favour a move within the Bundesliga rather than move abroad and Bayern Munich believe the player could be a good alternative to Dutchman Aarjen Robben who has missed numerous matches this season already through injury.

Bayern also prefer to purchase talent from within their own country, specifically players who they see as long term alternatives. Whilst Arsenal’s interest in Reus could be questioned it appears unlikely that the North London side would be in a position to negotiate with a player keen to remain in Germany and Arsenal are therefore likely to continue to pursue their main January target first in 24 year old Esteban Granero.
