German sensation Timo Werner reveals that he would consider a move to Liverpool if they come calling

RB Leipzig star Timo Werner has revealed that he would consider a move to Merseyside if Liverpool were to approach him.

The Germany international has been in sensational form this season contributing 35 goals for Julian Nagelsmann’s side in just 28 appearances.

Premier League clubs such as the Reds, Manchester United and Chelsea have all reportedly registered their interest in the 23-year-old.

Werner was close to joining reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and had run down his contract so that he could join the Bavarians on a free transfer.

However, Bayern still have Robert Lewandowski performing at the highest level which meant a move was unlikely, forcing Werner to sign a new deal in December.

Only the Polish superstar has outscored Werner in the 20 Bundesliga games thus far, with Lewandowski on 22 goals compared to Werner’s 20.

The German is only one goal shy of equalling his best ever tally in the league which he achieved in 31 games back in 2017/17.

The Confederations Cup winner talked about how the interest was natural given his superb form but that his only focus right now is to help Leipzig win their first-ever league title.

Leipzig dropped points in their last fixture against title rivals Borussia Monchengladbach in a 2-2 draw, which means that Bayern Munich are back on top of the league table – a familiar sight for Bundesliga fans.

Nagelsmann’s side are only a point behind the champions but both Monchengladbach and Dortmund are still in the hunt for the Meisterschale as they are only three points behind Bayern.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are cruising in the Premier League and only need to win six more games to hand them the title but it seems like a certainty that Jurgen Klopp’s men will lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

They have won 24 out of 25 games with their only draw coming against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.

Striker Roberto Firmino has been an important cog in Liverpool’s unbeaten run so far and has been on top form scoring crucial goals against Spurs and Wolves and getting a hattrick of assists in their last outing against Southampton.

The Reds also have Divock Origi on the bench who has also scored some of Liverpool’s most important goals most notably against Barcelona and Spurs in their Champions League win last campaign.

With teenage wonderkid Rhian Brewster also at the club, albeit currently on loan at Swansea, it would be difficult to see Timo Werner accommodated into the side without letting go of one of their front men.
