Arsenal are set to re-ignite interest in FC Cologne star Lukas Podolski and are prepared to wait until the summer to bid for the seasoned international.
Talk had been rife that Arsenal were preparing an offer this January, but with the Germany international ready to pen an extension before Christmas – to take his valuation up – and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger having ruled out any moves in January, the Emirates side will bide their time before making a move in the summer.
Podolski has always been held in high regard but has always seemed to do better on the international scene than at club level which saw the forward spend a miserable few years with Bayern Munich before moving back to his hometown side Cologne.
The player is certainly not out of Arsenal’s reach and with international team mate Per Mertesacker already on board, a fee of around £15m is likely to be enough to allow Cologne to let him move to London.
