The Grand Slam of darts continues tonight, with Phil Taylor v Michael Van Gerwen, Mervyn King v Kevin Painter, Scott Waites v Robert Thornton available online to watch with Bet365’s live stream service.
There are no more second chances as we reach the last 16 stage and this is definitely the business end of this tournament, as the pressure intensifies for all involved, as we are all set for a cracking evening.
There are some players expected to breeze through to the quarter-finals, but it won’t be anywhere near as simple as that. Each of the 16 players has made it through on merit and now, with the involvement in the tournament at stake, nobody will give in lightly.

One of the stand out matches of the last 16 matches – taking place on Thursday and Friday evening – is Phil Taylor taking on Michael van Gerwen.
The latter won his first PDC title with the World Grand Prix last month and after winning all three of his group fixtures, this is a man in top form, so his price of 2/1 could attract plenty of attention.
Taylor on the other hand lost his final group match to Scott Waites and he will be wary of the threat van Gerwen possesses. However, calling on all his experience, the Power will know he has what it takes to progress
Adding extra spice to this one, some are even tipping the young Dutchman to take over from Taylor as the man to beat in darts. The most successful player in history will not be having any of that though. He has beaten young hopefuls before and he will look to do so again and stamp his authority. Those looking play it safe and lump on the man from the Potteries can get 4/9.
Although this match is definitely the main attraction at this stage, there are some other potentially epic contests in this first set of knockout matches. Mervyn King v Kevin Painter should be particularly competitive.
King is in fantastic form and he ended the challenge of James Wade in his final group match, ensuring he topped his group with a 100% record in the process. Painter hasn’t been playing quite as well, but you can never rule him out.
One thing for sure is that Painter will not give up. He will use the crowd to his advantage and hope King has an off-day compared to his recent high standards. Mervyn King is the clear favourite at 1/2, but Painter is a fighter, and his odds of 7/4 may well be the value of the night.
Other than the two mentioned, there are six other last 16 matches to keep the Wolverhampton crowd entertained over the next two evenings.
Who will hold their nerve to secure a quarter-final place?
