The Gunners set to meet £13.5m release clause for Jose Luis Gaya

Arsenal gaffer remains optimistic he can pull off a bargain deal for Valencia starlet Jose Luis Gaya before the end of the transfer window.

The Valencia left back is considered one of the brightest talents in Spain not already playing at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Gaya’s current contract has a £13.5m release clause in it and Wenger believes the youngster could represent a bargain at that price if he continues to develop Chelsea 1 mainas expected. But Real Madrid are also now on the case and could look to hijack the Gunners interest.

The Spanish club are also desperate to keep the talent at the club and now have the financial backing of new owner Peter Lim to ensure they don’t have to sell their best talent to survive.

Without any doubt, reports in Spain suggest that Los Che are ready to offer Gaya a bumper new deal that would significantly increase the player’s current release clause.

Yet, it is claimed that Wenger remains optimistic that he can persuade the player to leave before the transfer window slams shut next week once he gets permission to play the current clause.

Arsenal are targeting the 19-year-old as the third signing of this transfer window. The Gunners are now chasing the last four spot as the injuries affected their chaces to gain any momentum in the first half.
