Hulk transfer stalls as Abramovich makes further enquiries in Italy

Chelsea are still examining the possibility of signing Napoli striker Edinson Cavani or Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic after the move for Porto’s striker Hulk hit difficulties.

Roman Abramovich’s move for Porto star Hulk has hit a stumbling block after Porto informed the Blues that Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to pay £43 million for the Brazilian.

Roberto Di Matteo still has a hole to fill the hole left after the departure of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, who left at the club at the end of last season, but before the North London club match the hefty price set by PSG, they are looking elsewhere for recruitments.

Chelsea were last week warned of from trying to sign 25-year-old Cavani after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis spoke out against the potential move, stating that the player was not for sale unless they matched his staggering estimation of 70-million Euro’s for the Uruguayan striker.

But the Champions League champions have renewed their interest after Cavani told South American Website Subraydo that he would be interested in the move.

“I think that regardless of whether an offer will come in or not, the chance to sit down and talk will come and he will do that calmly.

“He will use his head, he is a very good business man and it will be all worked out,” he said.

Jovetic was also on the Chelsea’s hit-list after the 22-year-old took Serie A by storm after he scored 22 goals in 88 appearances since joining Fiorentina in 2007.

Last season he found the back of the net on 14 occasions in 27 starts which was enough to temp Chelsea in to making a £20 million bid.

However, the initial bid was rejected but La Gazzetto dello sport has reported that an offer of £25 million would be enough to secure the services of the Montenegro and Fiorentina striker.

Matteo could make a move for either as Abramovich begins to lose patience with Porto.
