Inter Milan making enquiries into Chelsea midfielder

Inter Milan want to know if Michael Essien may be availableInter Milan are said to making serious enquiries regarding the availability of Chelsea FC midfielder Michael Essien and sources claim the Italian side could be in a position to offer Wesley Sneijder to make the deal happen.

Essien has arguably been one of Chelsea’s best players over the years and it is unlikely the Chelsea board, or even new manager, would want to allow the Ghanaian to leave, even if it were a swap deal including another top midfielder, however Inter believe that Chelsea need a quality attack minded midfielder more than a defensive one and with John Obi Mikel and 24 year old Ramires already at Stamford Bridge, feel they might be listened too.

Chelsea certainly need an attacking midfielder this summer and the club have been linked with Wesley Sneijder, Luka Modric and Javier Pastore with nothing really finalised as of yet. Interest by Inter Milan may initially be brushed away however should the West London club begin to fail with bids for Pastore or Modric (Who by all accounts looks to be staying at White Hart Lane), then Sneijder may be seen as the final option.

Although Chelsea would obviously not wish to exchange their best midfielder it could become an option should owner Roman Abramovich become frustrated at not getting the right players despite huge bids and he would rather pay straight, up-front cash for the Dutchman than have to part with who could be described as one of Chelsea’s talismen.
