Inter to rival Manchester United for La Liga sensation
Reports are suggesting that Inter Milan are prepared to challenge Manchester United for the signature of Javi Martinez and ignite a January battle.
The Athletic Bilbao star emerged as a target for Manchester United in past weeks as the Red Devils look to bolster their options in midfield. However, Inter will now block any move possible as they look to return to the sort of form that saw them reach the Champions League final in 2010.
The Italian giants have had plenty of transfer speculation of their own, regarding players leaving the club as well as coming in. Carlos Tevez was one such player being linked with a swap deal to the side, with Maicon believed to be moving in the opposite direction – a move which could still come to pass.
However, the club have had their share of exit rumours and Wesley Sneijder has found himself linked with a move to Manchester more than his current employers would like. Martinez has made over 170 appearances for Athletic Bilbao since he made his debut in 2006 as an 18 year-old, he is now an integral part in a youthful Athletic side.
Now 23, transfer speculation surrounds the playmaker and many tip him for a swift step up to the big leagues sometime soon.
The Spanish international would cos t either club around £20m in a transfer battle that is sure to draw attention in January.
