Its definitely a busy night of football, with some stand-out matches to keep an eye on.

England are of course in action against Sweden, but elsewhere the highlight has to be Italy at home to France. Two of the biggest football nations in the world, they have had many battles over the years and this is a tough one to call.

Both teams are in a similar position in terms of their progress at the moment. They will consider themselves to have had a transitional period and now the preparation for the 2014 World Cup begins.

Italy are in good form with three wins from four in qualifying, but will have to make do without inspirational midfielder Danielle de Rossi, who was sent off on the weekend in the Rome derby, while Manchester City misfit Mario Balotelli should start up front, while France themselves have a solid look about them at the moment.

Didier Deschamps’s side will also be in good spirits after the hard fought draw at Spain last time out.

Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud should partner Frank Ribery and Jérémy Ménez in a dangerous looking front line, who will be ably supported by Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye in midfield, as the French can be backed at 12/5.

Elsewhere, Holland v Germany is another friendly to watch out for.

After a Euro 2012 to forget, Holland have been in fine goalscoring form of late with 13 goals in their four World Cup qualification matches, although Klass-Jan Huntelaar will come in for Robin Van Persie, who has withdrawn from the squad along with Wesley Sneidjer.

Germany are not exactly shy in front of goal either with 15 strikes in the same period.

Hopefully, for the sake of the entertainment on show in this friendly, both teams will continue this trend,as Joachim Löw must make do with plenty of withdrawals, as Miroslav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Mesut Özil & Mario Gomez are rested.

You then have Poland v Uruguay as another highlight on Wednesday.

The Euro 2012 co-hosts managed to hold England to a 1-1 draw last month and against a dangerous Uruguay side, they will be hoping for a morale boosting home win.

Finally, it is worth noting that Republic of Ireland host Greece on Wednesday. The pressure is very much on them following the 6-1 hammering to Germany last month.

They need a win for under pressure Giovanni Trapattoniand a good performance in this one to keep the fans positive.

With Shane Long set to start up front, Aston Villa’s Ciaran Clark and Norwich’s Wes Hoolahan brought in there is an air of change and some much needed competition for places within the Irish camp, who can be backed at 8/5 to secure victory.

Overall, it should be a decent night of international football, with the majority of nations playing with a freedom that you wouldn’t always see if crucial points were up for grabs.
