Reports have suggested that Everton forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has turned down an approach from Blackburn Rovers.
Yakubu has slipped down the pecking order at Goodison Park recently and spent the second half of last season in the Championship on loan at Leicester. The Nigeria international impressed during his spell with the Foxes, as he scored 11 goals in 20 appearances.
Since his return to Everton over the summer, it seems he still remains as surplus to requirements in David Moyes’ first team fold.
Despite this, a move to away from Everton has not come about for Yakubu, and time is running out for the striker to find a new club before Wednesday’s transfer window.
Blackburn manager Steve Kean is desperate for attacking players as they are yet to score a goal this campaign, and they were ready to offer him regular Premier League football.
However, Yakubu rejected their offer and is set to stay at Merseyside until January at least.
