Irish striker eager to carry on good form

Newcastle United forward Leon Best feels he is on the way back to his best following his brace against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland international suffered with a series of ankle injuries throughout last season, but has enjoyed impressive form recently scoring both goals in the second half in the 2-1 victory at St James’ Park.

The three points gained continued Alan Pardew’s side’s strong start to the new campaign as they now sit in sixth place in the league table with seven points from three matches.

Best knows that despite his good form, he is not guaranteed a regular place in the Magpies’ starting line-up however is glad to have been given the chance to show his quality.

“Yes, definitely (I feel like I am starting all over again), but then I just think back to those days, and remember how I felt, and now to be scoring out there again,” enthused the 24-year-old.

“I just put those days behind me and concentrate on the future now and keep getting goals and keep winning games, hopefully.
“It gives me that self-belief again to keep going on and keep striving.”
