Roma have reinstated that they are confident that Daniele De Rossi will remain at the club after Wednesday’s transfer deadline, despite rumours linking him with a move away.
Talks are in progress between De Rossi and Roma as the midfielder is out of contract next summer, however Roma are certain they will be able to convince the midfielder to sign a new contract.
Premier League club Manchester City have shown interest in the Italian, with boss Roberto Mancini revealing he feels De Rossi would be ‘absolutely perfect for Manchester City” and describing him as ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’.
Meanwhile Spanish giants Real Madrid have also been linked with De Rossi, but Roma owner Thomas DiBenedetto is not expecting the 28-year-old to leave the Stadio Olimpico. DiBenedetto understands that De Rossi will have the final say on where his future lays, but is hopeful that he is fully committed to Roma.
“Daniele is Roman and 100 per cent a Roma fan, a great player and one of real value to us,” he said.
“We hope that he will keep on playing for Roma until the end of his career, but the final decision is his.”
