Manchester United forward Federico Macheda in in talks over a possible move to Newcastle on loan, according to the player’s agent.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had revealed earlier this month that they were not looking to let any strikers leave the club this season, either on a permanent basis or on loan.
On the other hand, the Red Devils have been boosted by a mass amount of attacking options, therefore resulting in the possibility of Macheda playing regularly looking slim.
Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are all still at the club, whilst Mame Biram Diouf has returned to Old Trafford following a loan spell at Blackburn. Also Danny Welbeck enjoyed an impressive start to the new campaign, but suffered a hamstring injury against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Italian was sent out on loan to Serie A club Sampdoria in the second half of last season, however his agent Giovanni has ruled out the chance of him moving back to his native country this summer.
This has increased Premier League clubs QPR and Newcastle’s interest in him, as they both look keen to improve their squads before Wednesday’s transfer deadline and Bia believes that the Magpies are currently in pole position for Macheda.
“Macheda doesn’t return to Italy, Manchester United will send him on loan in the Premier League,” the agent said.
“At this time Newcastle has the edge over Queens Park Rangers. ”
