Italians in for Russian as Arsenal look to Chelsea forward

Arsenal are prepared to accept a serious offer for Russian winger Andrey Arshavin in January and will look to replace him with Chelsea’s Saloman Kalou.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of Kalou and the 26 year old is available for the right price should a club make a serious offer in January. Whilst Chelsea’s fortunes have dropped recently, Arsenal are now back within a few dropped points of catching Manchester United in second place.

Although fans feel that a big name signing could make the difference in the second half of the season it is unlikely that many teams will allow their top players to leave however in the case of Kalou, a player who has been on the fringe of the club since his arrival, he could offer the club much more experience and not just for the short term.

At 26 years old Kalou is a player that Wenger believes still has his best years ahead of him and an offer of around £7m would be enough to tempt the West London club into allowing him to head North. Arshavin meanwhile has been a target of Italian side Fiorentina for some time and they feel that now is the right time to be making an offer in the hope they can bring the experienced international to the Serie A in a deal similar to that of the one that would take Saloman Kalou to Arsenal.
