We are all set for a manic summer transfer window once more and there are plenty of stories doing the rounds on this Thursday afternoon.
Luis Suarez’s future has been in some doubt for a while now and the most recent reports are suggesting that former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is ready to bring the Uruguayan to his new club, Napoli.
Edison Cavani looks as though he could be on the way out of the Italian club, with Chelsea closing in on the striker and the fee is believed to be around the £50 million mark. Benitez will use that money to try and bring in the Reds’ striker.
If the price is right, then Liverpool might just accept the offer, but whether Suarez wants to go to Napoli is another issue. It is a story to keep an eye on, that’s for sure.
Things seem to be getting busy at Chelsea as well as it is reported that Jose Mourinho doesn’t want any last-minute deals done on deadline day.
John Obi Mikel looks as though he could be on the way to Galatasaray in the next couple of days and Oriol Romeu seems to be heading out on loan, so Mourinho is keen to add some new midfielders in the near future.
As he has been for most of the summer, Daniele De Rossi remains Chelsea’s number one target in the summer window and Mourinho is hoping he can agree a fee with Roma for the player – who doesn’t seem to be too happy in Serie A.
The Portuguese wants another holding midfielder though and French youngster Geoffrey Kondogbia is on his wanted list.
The 20-year-old played 31 games for Sevilla last season and impressed many with his performances. A move to Chelsea would surely be something that the player is keen on as he wants to test himself in the big competitions – such as the Champions League.
Manchester United are keen on Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara, but the west London club are ready to offer the 22-year-old a move to Stamford Bridge. We could see somewhat of a bidding war between these two giants of English football.
We said things were getting busy at Chelsea and we certainly weren’t lying as the Blues are also looking at a double deal for Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin.
If these two deals went through, it could allow David Luiz to leave the club, providing the price is right.
Elsewhere, Arsenal seem to be getting closer to signing Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid and it is being suggested the Gunners will offer the striker a £130,000-per-week deal.
It has been a story that has been brewing for a while now and it looks as though the Argentine could swap Madrid for north London.
Finally, Juventus are keen on adding Manchester City duo Carlos Tevez and Aleksandr Kolarov to their squad. With both players looking as though their future at the Etihad is in doubt, this could be a move that happens soon.
