Juventus are labelled as 2/5 favourites to defeat Livorno and move top of the table whilst Inter Milan could close in on leading group with a win against Bologna.
Juventus could finally break Roma’s season-long stranglehold on the top spot in Serie A if they are to overcome a Livorno side who have struggled to get any consistent form this season.
The defending champions currently sit in second place in the table but a win will send them two points clear of Roma who play tomorrow night against Cagliari.
Despite the international break giving the side two weeks off, Antonio Conte will still be without several key defenders including Stephane Lichtsteiner and Andrea Barzagli who are both still out with injuries
Chilean defensive midfielder Arturo Vidal has been given the all-clear after serving with Chile over the international period meanwhile Sebastian GIovinco could also feature if he passes a late fitness test.
Livorno has struggled to find some consistency this season and this has left them sitting in the bottom half of the table in 15th place just three points above the relegation zone.
The home side will also be without several first name players as they have lost both Marco Benassi and Ruben Motta to injuries and are unavailable for selection.
It doesn’t get any easier for Livorno though as both Alfonso De Lucia and Paulinho are also ruled out of the game through suspensions acquired before the international break.
Elsewhere in Serie A, Inter Milan could draw level with third placed Napoli if they are able to win on their trip down to Bologna.
Walter Mazzari’s side are having a much better campaign than last season and a win could move them to just within 4 points of the leaders on Sunday evening.
There will be a major boost for the Nerazzuri ahead of their trip south as club captain Javier Zanetti is fit again although he is likely to earn a place on the bench due to a lack of match fitness.
This will mean that the likes of Andrea Rannochia and Walter Samuel will retain their places in the backline whilst Rodrigo Palacio and Ricky Alvarez are slated down to lead the front line for Inter.
Bologna have struggled for form this season and the home side currently sit 16th in Serie A hovering dangerously above the relegation zone.
Having only lost once in their last four games, it’s likely that boss Stefano Poli will field an unchanged side against Inter which will see the likes of Rene Krhin and Alessandro Diamanti maintain their places in the squad.
With Juventus and Inter being in good form, both sides are likely to pick up a win and make the top of Serie A look very interesting as the mid-point of the season draws ever nearer.
