There is no time for either Tito Vilanova or Jose Mourinho to feel sorry for themselves though as both teams have La Liga matches this weekend and it is a chance to rebuild some confidence and momentum ahead of the second legs.

Looking at Real Madrid to begin with, they have a massive game at city rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening and as they are just three points clear of them at the moment, the visitors need a win here to take a big step towards second place in La Liga.

Mourinho is likely to tinker with his starting eleven from the side that played at Dortmund and someone like Cristiano Ronaldo might be rested as he is needs to be on fire in the second leg.

Real have to get themselves in the right frame of mind for this encounter as Atletico have shown what a good side they are this campaign.

The hosts will feel as though this is a fantastic chance to beat their bitter rivals as they aren’t in the best of spirits right now. A victory for Diego Simeone’s team is at 15/8.

As for Barcelona, they also face a tough trip away from home as they go to Athletic Bilbao, who might not be in the best of form right now, but they are certainly capable of coming out on top here.

Barca are 13 points clear at the top of the table, so they can rest players and even if they lose here, it isn’t going to stop them winning the title.

Lionel Messi is all but certain not to play as he didn’t look to be fully-fit in the clash with Bayern Munich last time out.

At 5/1, Bilbao could be good value, especially as they are on home soil and the atmosphere is sure to be electric on Saturday evening.

There are two other matches taking place on Saturday and the first one sees Levante entertain Celta Vigo.

A win for the away team would take them out of the bottom three, so it is safe to say they are desperate for a result in this one.

Celta come into this clash on the back of a massive win over Rayo Vallecano, so they should be in good spirits, whereas Levante have lost their last three and don’t have a great deal to play for at this stage.

For that reason, the away side might be the best bet at 11/4.

Finally, Real Zaragoza host Mallorca in a massive six-pointer at the bottom of the table. Zaragoza are currently bottom on 27 points, with Mallorca sitting in 18th, just one point ahead of their opponents.

The winner of this one would give themselves a massive chance of staying in the league, whereas the loser will be dealt a big blow in their hopes of survival. It should be a very interesting 90 minutes.

A superb day of Spanish football awaits.
