Focusing on Lazio to begin with, it is worth noting that they sit eight points from 1st place at the moment, so although winning the league is not impossible, they will be more focused on securing a top three finish this season.

To do this, they need to pick up some victories in the big games. With Roma, Inter Milan and Udinese also fighting it out for a place in the Champions League – as well as Juventus and AC Milan of course – every game is crucial between now and the end of the season.

As for the form Lazio find themselves in going into this game, Eddy Reja’s men have actually only won one of their last six matches, so a moral boosting victory tonight would be welcome.

As for AC Milan, they are locked in a tight battle for the title at the moment, so if they are going to become Champions, this is the type of game they will be getting something from.

Their recent form suggests they may well get something too. They did suffer a disappointing defeat to Inter Milan last month, but their response to this has been fantastic and it sits alone as their only defeat in all competitions since a Champions League reverse to Barcelona in November.

They may well be boosted by the presence of new-signing Maxi Lopez tonight too. The Argentina forward joined from Catania and would love to make an immediate impact at his new club.

Whether he starts tonight though remains to be seen. He may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho set to lead the line.

Overall, this should be a cracking match between two of Italy’s top teams. With Lazio unbeaten at home since November and title chasing Milan in excellent form themselves, it really could go either way.
