Simon Grayson have admitted that is considering whether to allow Leeds striker Billy Paynter to move on loan to a League One club, after being adamant that he will not be allowed to join a Championship rival.
The 27-year-old has not started a game since the open day of the season, in which Leeds lost to Southampton. The striker firstly lost his place due to injury, but following this has been unable to win his place back, resulting in the former Swindon man being linked with loan moves to several clubs.
It was revealed this week that about 6 Championship clubs had made enquires about taking Paynter, but Grayson has ruled out a move in the same league for him.
On the other hand, Grayson is prepared to let him move down a lower to experience regular football.
Grayson told the club’s official website: “I’ve had a call from a League One team about Billy. We’ll decide if it’s the right thing to do.
“One thing for certain is that we wouldn’t consider Billy joining one of our rivals in the Championship, so any deal would have to suit all parties.
“He wants to play games, which he isn’t doing at the moment and I’ve no problems with letting him out, but until we decide properly there’s nothing doing.”
