Chelsea and Liverpool are both ready to go to war in January after it emerged that both clubs could be ready to bid for Ajax midfielder and international starlet, Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen was actually associated with a summer move to Newcastle, however personal problems meant that the Dane was unable to complete the move.
Despite being only 19 years-old, Eriksen has already made 51 appearances for Ajax, not to mention he has featured 18 times for the Danish national side.
The teenager has received great praise in the past also, with Dutch legend Johan Cruyff being quoted as saying: “He’s a player I really like with all my heart, he is a typical product of the Danish school.”
Eriksen also received great praise from the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard after Denmark lost against England in a friendly in early 2011.
The youth is being linked with numerous clubs, however Chelsea may be looking to shift on several of their midfield line such as Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou in the January window, and so a replacement would be viable.
Liverpool splurged on a midfield line over the summer, with Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson coming in to rack up a total of around £50m in transfers between them, however Kenny Dalglish doesn’t seem to want to stop there.
Ajax are known for their youth production and despite their want to hold onto the starlet, may have to let him go if a big money offer does come in.
