Liverpool attacker close to European switch

Finding first team appearances increasingly harder to come by in recent months, Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt could be heading for the Anfield exit this month.

The Dutchman has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now and after reports suggested that Galatasaray have a rising interest in the winger, a transfer may finally materialize.

Kuyt has made 21 appearances for the Reds this season but has failed to return to the form he saw in his earlier Anfield career.

Liverpool continue to be linked with numerous wing talents and it seems only a matter of time until Kuyt is sold to the highest bidder.

Galatasaray’s interest isn’t completely fresh but their desire to launch a formal bid worth around £8m certainly is.

The Turkish giants have fallen away in the country’s top flight in recent seasons and haven’t won their Super Lig title since the 2007-08 campaign, and see Kuyt as the catalyst in returning them to the summit.

The move would see Kuyt follow former Premier League opponent Emmanuel Eboue to the side after the former Gunners utility completed a summer transfer away from Arsenal.

Kuyt currently has 18 months left to run on his Liverpool contract, however they could opt to sell the 31 year-old now rather than risk his value decreasing over the next year due to a lack of involvement within the first XI.

One would have to argue that New England Sports Ventures have invested a heap into the club since their 2010 takeover and 2012 purchases are highly likely, meaning Kuyt could be seeing more time on the sidelines in the coming months.
