Liverpool boss heaps praise on diverse defender

Kenny Dalglish has hailed Martin Skrtel after the defender slotted into the unnatural position of right-back following a string of injuries.

Martin Kelly suffered an injury in the win over Bolton and Slovakian Skrtel was quick to fill in the role, earning the praise of his manager.

The change shows depth in the Reds’ squad as well as a now-familiar sense of great team morale at Anfield.

The Scot noted: “He’s been playing out of position but it’s been no problem for him. He came on against Bolton and was very, very comfortable.”

He added: “One of the benefits of this group of players is that they are prepared to play wherever they can get a game.”
