Liverpool defender expecting “blockbuster” game on Sunday

Liverpool centre back Martin Skrtel has claimed that Sunday’s match versus Tottenham Hotspur has the makings of a real “blockbuster” with both teams now locked in a fight for fifth spot to claim a Europa League spot.

Whilst the Europa League is somewhat short of it’s bigger European cousin the Champions League there is no denying that the competition does provide money to clubs and both Liverpool and Spurs will be desperate to be included in the first group draw.

“I am happy that our dream is still alive and we have two more matches to play. This will be a blockbuster against Tottenham. We play in front of our own fans and everyone knows they are great so I believe we have a great chance to beat them.”

The 26 year old Slovak added.

“Let’s see what these two matches will bring.”

Liverpool are currently two points clear of Tottenham with both teams still to play two more games. Whilst a Liverpool win would put the Europa League out of reach for the North London side, a draw would mean fifth position being decided on the final day of the season.
