Liverpool FC are starting to edge close to a potential move for Bologna’s attack minded midfielder Gaston Ramirez.
The 21 year old only recently signed a contract extension to keep the Uruguayan in Italy until 2016 however contract extensions are currently used to increase the value of a player rather than tie them down with added loyalty.
Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Ramirez for some time and there is also interest from Spain. With Suarez’s ban meaning the Anfield side will have to do without him for eight matches, his international team mates arrivale will be a big plus for the striker as he starts to come to terms with his punishment.
Despite only having just signed a new deal the playmaker is likely to attract some attention from other Italian clubs and a transfer figure alone is rumoured to be £10m-£12m. With Liverpool trying to break into the top four and with owner Henry already claiming it would be disastrous if they did not make the Champions League qualification places there is pressure on Dalglish to push Liverpool forward and a move for the talented Ramirez will only help in that quest.
