It has been claimed that Liverpool were again in Germany over the weekend, this time to take a closer look at Hannover 96’s Sérgio Pinto and the midfielder did himself plenty of favours as the Bundesliga club, currently in third position, beat FSV Mainz 2-0 with the 30 year old finding the net in the 59th minute.
Playing as a midfielder or winger, Pinto might not be at the sort of age that will have the Anfield fans licking their lips but he certainly has the experience to add something the newly invigorated Liverpool side.
Since joining Hannover in 2007, the Portuguese-German has scored 14 goals for the club and has made many assists. It is believed however that Pinto would like to stay with the Bundesliga outfit to concentrate on their Champions League campaign next year, which looks highly likely at the moment.
However should a blip in their form and results occur and they fail to qualify from a fourth spot – which requires a qualification match like the Premier League – then he could well be on the move.
