Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has insisted that he still feels he can put in the same sort of performances for the club now as he did so a few years ago and that he would hate to move away from Anfield.
At 33 Carragher is heading towards that age where retirement beckons however his loyalty and determination for the club is no different and with his added experience he has certainly made a huge difference under Liverpoo manager Kenny Dalglish.
Carragher however suggests age is sometimes only used as an excuse.
“I think age is in people’s heads really. If an older player has a bad game, sometimes he may look for an excuse. I don’t feel that much different.”
The Reds defender continued.
“If it got to a stage where I was hardly ever playing and I still felt I could do something, I’m not sure what I’d do. But I’d hate to leave here. I’d hate for my career to just fizzle out because I love playing football so much.”
