Liverpool FC make defender target number one

Liverpool FC have made Birmingham City defender Scott Dann their next top target as they look to add more depth to their defence for the up and coming season.

Liverpool were reported to have been told that £9m would not be enough for the 24 year old and at first Liverpool were inclined to look elsewhere, however Dalglish and his management side feel the defender is the right man to take over as a long term replacement for Jamie Carragher who has only two seasons left in him at most.

With £9m not enough to snap Dann up, Dalglish will begin selling more players to trim the squad down and will then make an offer believed to be closer to that of £12m. At first it does seem a high price to pay and perhaps clubs are taking advantage of the fact that Liverpool’s new owners are quite happy spending at the moment, but regardless of what they pay for Dann, the club will know that they will have acquired a steady, committed defender who is also a Liverpool fan.
