Liverpool are believed to have relinquished their interest in River Plate youngster Lucas Ocampos after being told that the 17 year old would cost the Anfield side at least £15m.
The youngster has already made headlines in his native Argentina with many already claiming he has the same technique to be as good as former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Liverpool however have decided to move on and look elsewhere after deciding that the price for someone so young and untested at a tough level.
Had Liverpool continued their interest they would have had to face Chelsea and Bayern Munich who appear to be keen to wrap things up as quickly possible with a bidding war likely to ensue over the coming months.
Young Ocampos has not yet featured for the full Argentina international side but has made 8 appearances at U17 level so far and currently plays for River Plate, a side in Argentina’s second division.
