It seems the Anfield career of Dirk Kuyt could be coming to an end after it emerged that Inter Milan were poised to up their interest in the attacker.
The Dutch international is known for his workhorse ethic but critics are muttering that the mental edge he possesses may no longer be enough for him to survive at Liverpool.
Inter have been linked with moves for the 30 YEAR-OLD during the past two transfer windows and despite a move not coming to pass yet, it seems as though the third time may indeed prove to be the charm if an offer is made in January.
Since moving to Mersey side in 2006, Kuyt has made 185 appearances for the Reds, scoring 49 goals in the process.
The Dutchman has become a fan-favourite amongst some Kopites but a good following only gets you so far in football and at the end of the day, performances rule supreme.
Inter won’t be put off by the age of Kuyt either, with the Italian league becoming somewhat notorious for squeezing the best out of many players well into their 30s.
It’s unknown whether Liverpool will be looking to bring in a replacement for their veteran straight away should a sale materialise, but speculation suggests that an attacking alternative could be purchased.
However, with the recent revelation coming in that Lucas will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury, a holding midfielder will be top priority.
Adam Johnson, and Eden Hazard are the pick of the forwards being associated with an Anfield switch and would cost around £15m and £28m respectively.
At this point, the Reds’ valuation of Kuyt is unknown, however the side won’t be expected to get more than £7m from the proposed sale of the goalscorer.
