After reports of Tottenham’s interest in the player, Liverpool have also emerged as possible candidate to land the signature of Celtic star, James Forrest.
The 20 year-old has earned massive plaudits over the first half of the 2011-12 campaign following his exploits in the Scottish Premier League as well as in Europe.
Forrest has made 26 starts for Celtic this season scoring eight goals and making five assists for the Scottish outfit.
The right winger – who is also capable of featuring up front – has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent weeks and despite his claims that he is happy with his current club, a move to a top Premier League side would be hard to turn down.
Neil Lennon and several other key Celtic figures have urged the starlet to remain with the Bhoys in order to further his career advancement rather than fall to the wayside in a Premier League outfit.
2011 was a standout year for Forrest who, as well as gaining a regular place in the Celtic starting XI, gained his first caps for the Scottish national side after playing at various youth levels for the country.
Liverpool have been linked with moves for several big name widemen this transfer window including Adam Johnson, Eden Hazard and Aaron Lennon.
Forrest could undoubtedly prove the more economical option at a valuation of £10m which would be funded by the proposed 2012 departures of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and Alberto Aquilani should Kenny Dalglish decide to make a January move.
Forrest remains adamant that his future lies at Celtic Park but it isn’t unheard of for a player to state their loyalty before departing from a club.
