Despite the fact that Blackpool manager has slapped a reported £10m price-tag on his starlet, Liverpool are maintaining interest in Matt Phillips with the view to summer move.
The 20 year-old has impressed greatly this season and was attracting a host of Premier League attention with Chelsea, Tottenham and Sunderland all being linked with moves for the player in January.
However, a move failed to materialize but a summer switch is a strong possibility with the same clubs showing an interest in a summer transfer.
Phillips featured for the Tangerines in their 2010-11 Premier League campaign but didn’t get his real chance at first team action until the current campaign.
After finding it difficult to break into the first team at Bloomfield Road, Phillips spent a month on loan at League One Sheffield United in October 2011 where he performed admirably.
The wideman scored five goals in just six appearances for the Blades during his sole month at the club and was, as a result, handed a bigger role at his parent club.
Since then, Phillips has gone on to make 21 starts for Blackpool this season, scoring 14 goals as well as making six assists.
Phillips was also recently called up to the England Under-21 national side but is yet to appear for the team.
Although Holloway has stated his intent to hang on to this campaign surprise star, Phillips may be tempted by a move to the English top flight if he is to continue his development and the club will be more likely to let go of Phillips in the summer rather than midway through the season.
Regardless of Holloway’s valuation of the player, the club won’t necessarily carry the same valuation and the youngster is expected to be available for around £4m.
