Liverpool F.C are rumoured to be considering a bid for Wolfsburg’s Danish centre-back Simon Kjaer. The 22 year-old has had a dismal first season in Germany, and should the Bundesliga outfit be relegated, a summer move seems a distinct possibility.
Kjaer transferred for an undisclosed fee in July 2010, but the sum is thought to be around the £12m mark. At the time, numerous clubs were interested in the defender, including the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea. Knowing that a Premier League selection is on the cards, you’d have to think he may at least consider the switch.
Damien Comolli, Liverpool’s Director of Football is in the market for a defender, with veteran Jamie Carragher becoming more injury prone and let’s face it, not getting any younger.
Roger Johnson is another name being tossed around Merseyside after a spectacular second season with Birmingham. Kenny Dalglish is thought to agree with the club’s need for another defender, more specifically in the centre. Both players are valued at around £10m.
