Liverpool looking at Bundesliga talisman

Sources have reported that Andre Schurrle has emerged as a target for Liverpool as the Premier League continue their search for a winger.

The Anfield outfit have been associated with moves for the likes of Adam Johnson, Gaston Ramirez and Eden Hazard over the course of the January transfer window but are still to sign a wideman.

Stewart Downing completed a move to the English giants over the summer but with Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez rumoured to be on their way out of the side, further replacements may be brought in.

Schurrle is barely six months into a five-year long contract with current club Bayer Leverkusen but is already being linked with an English switch after impressing this campaign.

In 20 starts for Leverkusen this season, Schurlle has recorded four goals and three assists across all competitions.

The deal is sweetened by the fact that the 21 year-old is capable of featuring up front as well as on the wings and would be an alternative option to the faltering form of Andy Carroll.

Schurlle has featured for the German national side on eleven occasions scoring five goals in the process and was one of the first players – along with Mario Gotze – to be born in reunited Germany and play for the national team.

New England Sports Ventures have already shown their commitment to the Liverpool cause, spending big in previous transfer windows and will need those funds once again if they are to sign £15-rated Schurlle, who will undoubtedly cost more due to the amount of time left to run on his current deal at the BayArena.
