Liverpool maestro on brink of sealing Milan move

It’s understood that Milan have taken the penultimate step to signing Liverpool midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, and a deal could be finished in the next 24 hours.

Earlier today, Franco Zavaglia, agent of the Liverpool misfit, claimed that the Merseyside outfit had opened discussions with the Serie A champions and hoped a deal would ensue swiftly.

That is now a near reality as the player will fly to the Italian city tonight, ahead of a medical before he completed the move back to his native Spain.

Aquilani has had a torrid time in England since his £18m arrival from Roma in 2009, spending last season on loan at Juventus.

However, the playmaker saw a successful spell in Juve colours, and Milan vice-president, Ariano Galliani, was a big fan of the Italian.

The board member noted: “We’ve signed a player with great quality. He’s the right man for Milan.

He added: “Our transfer market campaign has now come to a close.”
