Two undefeated teams meet at Anfield this Sunday, but at such an early juncture in the new Premier League season that’s not necessarily something to get over-enthusiastic about. But both sides do go into the game with plenty of cause to be confident.
Liverpool have won their last successive four league games.
OK, accusations could abound that that’s bending the statistics a little. However Liverpool can still draw some encouragement from a good run of form. And one man who has aided ably in that run and beyond is England striker Daniel Sturridge.

former Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers player has managed a hugely impressive 10 goals in his last 8 games for the club and is currently playing with an assured composure that only compliments his dexterous talent.
But it’s not just Brendan Rodgers who will be approaching the game with a strong element of certainty.
David Moyes has plenty to be pleased with. His first league match in charge saw an ultimately comfortable victory over Swansea City despite Michael Laudrup’s side having the best of play in the first half with some fluid interchanging football.
Robin van Persie reset the tempo and United ran out comfortable winners. Monday’s Bank Holiday draw might have seen them bank just one of three possible points; but it was an assured display.
Wayne Rooney mightn’t have looked over-enamoured to be there but that was a sub-plot to his own performance; he was hungry, creative and lively.
Kolo Toure has surprised many with his play and approach since moving to Anfield and it had seemed he would miss out on the visit of the current league champions. However Rodgers has said the injury is nowhere near as bad as first anticipated. If he does miss out, Rodgers is confident that he will return after the upcoming international break.
Martin Skrtel is ready to take his place however if Toure doesn’t recover in time.
Skrtel is returning after recovering from a knee problem.
New signing Aly Cissokho though will definitely miss out after also suffering injury in the same game and will be out for up to six weeks. The former Porto and Lyon star suffered an ankle injury in his first and to date only start for the club.
Phil Jones it is believed will be fit for the visitors. He suffered a blow to his back in the Chelsea match but is expected to line out for Moyes’ side.
The England international aside, United have no other doubts and could well play the same starting line-up again.
Moyes never succeeded in defeating Liverpool in 11 times of trying whilst Everton manager. He will be trying to achieve that feat at the first attempt with his new side. However it’s likely he will have to settle for a share of the points.
