Liverpool owner targeting top-four finish

Liverpool owner, John W Henry, has declared that the club’s first priority is getting back into the top-four of the Premier League, after a transfer-heavy summer.

Since the takeover of Henry’s Fenway Sports Group, the club has brought back legend Kenny Dalglish as manager and splashed out in the past two transfer windows.

The owner is not aiming for the Premier League title just yet. Henry spoke to Norwegian paper Dagbladet ahead of Liverpool’s friendly against Valerenga, stating: “It’s too early for us to start talking about winning the league,”

“Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League. If we don’t it would be a major disappointment.”

The Reds have not qualified for the Champions League since the 2008/09 season, when they finished as runners-up to current champions, Manchester United.
