Liverpool ready to begin talks with Germany international

Podolski remains on a few teams' wishlistSources in Southern Germany have claimed that Liverpool are looking to start possible talks with Germany international and current FC Cologne forward Lukas Podolski regarding a £15m move.

It is believed the player is ready to have talks with the Merseyside club despite it being recently suggested that he was looking to sign an extension at the Bundesliga club over Christmas. Podolski only rejoined Cologne in 2009 after what could be argued were unsuccessful years at Bayern Munich between 2006 and 2009.

The player had been linked with a move to the Premiership last summer after he yet again made some very impressive performances at the World cup in South Africa the previous year however at the time it was the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United that were heavily linked and not the Merseyside giants.

Should Podolski really be considering a move to the Premier League it would certainly be interesting to discover which of the sides he would be looking to join. Have played without Champions League football for the last two seasons it would seem natural that he may not be fussed whether to be in the competition for the remainder of this year meaning Liverpool could be the main side to snap him up, meanwhile Podolski would fit into most top four side’s with ease, able to play as a striker or winger.
