Uruguayan international andLiverpoolnew boy, Sebastian Coates, says that the opportunity of playing in a different country was a chance he couldn’t pass up, and he is out to prove himself on a new scale.

The 20 year-old sent shockwaves through the football community this summer with his standout performances forUruguayin the Copa America-winning team, earning himself the Young Player of the Tournament award.

The defender was also persuaded by international compatriot, Luis Suarez, who snapped up the slightly more prestigious Player of the Tournament, in what was a hugely successful summer for the duo.

Speaking to the LFC Magazine, Coates noted: “The biggest attraction was the challenge: to come to an unfamiliar place – a huge club – and make a name for myself.”

The stopper added: “Now, I am here, in a different country, in a different league, with different team-mates. The best players are successful wherever they go. I am determined to become an important player here at a historical stage of the club’s future.”
