Liverpool to make further enquiries for Manchester City winger in January

Adam Johnson is still one player under the Liverpool radarLiverpool FC will continue in their pursuit of Manchester City winger Adam Johnson in January by making further enquiries for the player in the transfer window.

Adam Johnson remains a player that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is keen to bring to Anfield and enquiries were during the summer. The player was at the time rumoured to be keen on a move to try and get more first team football under his belt with opportunities at Manchester City slim.

Although it is quite unlikely that Liverpool will be able to tempt Manchester City in allowing his to leave it is believed further enquiries into his availability will be made in the hope that should the Anfield side reach the top four, Champions League football will be the final key in bringing the former Middlesbrough winger to join Dalglish.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has always said he would like to keep Johnson within the squad but with the squad containing so many top draw attacking players, Johnson does not get the game time he deserves and would certainly fit into most Premiership teams if he were to join them.

The player fits perfectly in with Liverpool’s current policy of buying young and buying British with Dalglish having already brought in the likes of Henderson, Adam and Downing over the summer. His possible addition appears to be a popular one within groups of Liverpool fans and he could cost the Merseyside club somewhere between £10m-£15m next summer should enquiries prove fruitful.
